A POEM by Marion Twyman

I read a book on demons
As I rode the train today.
I thought it might prepare me
For the part I had to play.
But I realised soon my time was up,
My brain had let me down
The experience had sucked me dry
And left me there to drown.
So when I saw the devil’s eyes
That did not waver or blink
I took my punishment like a man
When she said ‘You’re the weakest link’.
