Introduction

For many years I had considered writing a book and over time had made many notes about my own experiences. There was nothing particularly auspicious to write about, but it was my life and I thought probably my Grandchildren Georgina and Imogen would be interested and also my Great Great Nephew George. And to these I dedicate this book.

Also my personal thanks to the many relatives and friends who have certainly motivated me and encouraged me to continue.
I have relied on my memory for a great deal of this narrative and as far as I am aware this is an accurate account , but the actual time line of events when I was younger have been difficult to accurately assess. I have done my best and tried to confirm times whenever possible.
I sincerely hope you get some enjoyment and knowledge from reading this book and I encourage anyone to try noting events in their own lives so that they can provide accuracy to their own books should they wish to write them later. One of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t speak more to my Mother and Brother and Sisters about past events in their own lives and about the family in general.
